About Vitamins-What you need to know!

Learning about vitamins can be confusing, especially when trying to find out what kind of supplements you should take. At one time or another, we’ve all been told that if we eat a nutritionally healthy meal three times a day, we won’t need dietary supplements or need to learn about vitamins, but that’s not practical in our culture, of course.

A large number of us are stressed out on a daily basis, and do not always have time to consume a nutritionally healthy meal at all let alone (and three of them?!). Healthy dietary intake will never substitute vitamins. Your body needs fuel to perform all of the activities that you have to do in a day. A healthy diet is one that contains plenty of calcium, protein, fats, carbohydrates and fiber balanced with vitamins when required for specific health concerns.

Most food products, including breads, pastas, and cereals, are filled with vitamins and minerals. Data about the vitamins specified on the packaging contains the percentage of each recommended daily intake, which should give you a pretty good idea of how much of a given vitamin or mineral you are receiving. Calcium is an essential mineral for women and most vitamin sources suggest women can eat at least 1200-1500 mg of calcium per day. Most calcium supplements contain just 30-50 per cent of the recommended daily levels and must be balanced with dietary intake from other sources such as chocolate, yogurt, milk, and ice cream.

It is an effective vitamin regarding vitamin D, which is good for bone health, and is also included in certain calcium supplements. Vitamin D can also be absorbed by sunlight via the skin, but this is not always an choice for people living in northern states, or for the elderly, so a vitamin supplement is the solution.

Part of taking care of yourself is learning about the vitamins and minerals our bodies need to improve their wellbeing. You have many outlets to know more about vitamins, and how such vitamin shortages and excess intake can be harmful to your health.

It’s important to play an active role in your wellbeing¬†and be informed about your cabinet’s vitamins and what is right for you. In addition to searching the internet, you can find a variety of knowledge on vitamins in different health journals, or you can also consult a nutritionist or naturopathic physician for advice on vitamins and supplements, and how to incorporate them into your diet.
It is for your good health!
